King James Bible chapter index

Haggai

Haggai delivered his prophecy using simple prose. It consists of four messages from God, delivered to the nation of Israel after the rebuilding of the temple had ceased for about ten years. Haggai was the first prophet to minister to Israel following the return from Babylonian captivity. The period of Israel's history into which he fits is recorded in the books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther. The prophecy of Haggai encourages the people of God to resume the building of the temple, and receive the blessings of God for their obedience.
